FOR PARENTS
At Elmbrook School we offer two different types of educational provision.
1. PRU provision: temporary placements to support children who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of that happening. If your child is referred for a PRU place they may remain dual registered with their mainstream school, and may attend Elmbrook part-time or full-time. We would work in partnership with your child's school. Your child's mainstream school will usually discuss a referral with you.
2. EHCP specialist provision: permanent school places for children with an EHCP who have SEMH as their primary need, or communication and interaction (along with SEMH). To access this provision we would be consulted by Leicester City Council's Special Education Service.
Food at Elmbrook
At Elmbrook School we recognised the value of food, and the role in plays in our lives. As part of our nurture curriculum, the children all join a shared breakfast when they arrive in the morning. This time together not only ensures the children are fuelled for the day, but also provides a crucial opportunity for staff to talk to the children, to 'check-in' before the day starts, and to role model table manners and etiquette alongside developing life skills such as serving themselves and cleaning up afterwards.
At lunchtime our children are supported by familiar staff. This ensures that lunchtimes afford the opportunity for us to continue developing the softer skills around sharing, turn taking and resilience. The children have 30 minutes for lunch- this includes 15 minutes of active playtime.

Our lunch menu can be found here.

Travelling to / from school
Most of our students travel to/ from Elmbrook School in a taxi. This needs to be requested via Leicester City Council. Our transition lead, Jane Smith, will support you with this as part of our admissions process.
You can choose to transport your own child. In this case you may be able to apply for a Personal Transport Budget through Leicester City Council.
Uniform
At Elmbrook School we do ask that our students wear uniform, even if they are only attending with us part-time or for a short period of time.
If children are dual registered, they can choose to wear the uniform of their mainstream school. Our Elmbrook uniform has been kept simple, to ensure costs are kept to a minimum for families. At the point of admission all children are given some of our logo badges which can be ironed on to clothing items. Should you require some more, please contact the school office.
