OUR CURRICULUM

We strive to promote high quality teaching and learning throughout the curriculum and beyond. We use assessment to raise attainment and accelerate progress for our children. We provide opportunities for all pupils to achieve their full potential, including the provision of specific learning interventions were appropriate.

Through both our ‘Creative Curriculum’ and the core subjects of English, Maths, Science, Computing and PSHE we develop children’s abilities, interests and potential in order to prepare them for the next stage in their lives.

We actively promote fundamental British values and our extensive PSHE curriculum underpins all areas of learning. We use a broad range of teaching strategies that take into account the ways in which children learn in order to foster engagement, motivation and creativity.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Promoting Fundamental British Values

In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values in school to ensure young people leave us prepared for life in modern Britain. Elmbrook School provides education to children from all across Leicester City. We celebrate the diversity of our local culture.

Our curriculum ensure that pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.

Wider Curriculum

At Elmbrook School we believe in the power of experiential learning. We want our children to leave us prepared for life beyond Elmbrook, and to have become well-rounded citizens.

All of our children have access to:

  • swimming lessons

  • off site activities through our 'experiences' curriculum

  • life-skills lessons (incorporating Forest Skills activities)

  • nurture activities including nurture breakfast which support the children in developing independence
